Athletics ink Matsui
The Oakland Athletics added another top hitter to their lineup, signing Hideki Matsui to a one-year contract worth $4.25 million.
He is expected to serve as the team’s designated hitter and was pleased by how strongly Oakland wanted him to be a part of their team.
The team is hopeful that Matsui’s signing will help attract fans back to the ballpark to pump up declining attendance.
The 36-year old has a blend of power and the ability to hit for a high batting average that made him attractive to the A’s. ( Read More…)
